Kew Royal Botanic Gardens
This 300-acre botanical garden and plant research center is recognized throughout the world for its grand diversity of plants. It is the world’s greatest botanical garden and seed bank. Easily accessible from the Kew Gardens tube station, this World Heritage Site offers a full-day of discovery.
Leaving the Palm House continue walking straight, turning right, and then continuing left, following the signs to the Princess of Wales Conservatory.
The Conservatory opened in 1987 and is home to ten different habitats from desert to tropical pools. Enjoy the world-class collection of orchids and explore cacti, ferns, and tropical water lilies that grow up to six feet in a week.
The Alpine House was designed to mirror the dry, cool, and windy conditions of an alpine habitat. The hardy alpine plants include a selection of showstoppers!
Continue walking up to, and exploring the looping path around the Duke’s Garden.
Exit where you entered and turn right to reach The Orangery where you may enjoy a light meal and refreshments daily from 10 am to 5 pm. The Orangery will close early at 4pm on 19 October and 3.30pm on 20 October 2023. It will be closed entirely on 16 January 2024.
Continue left on Princess Walk where Kew Palace can be seen to your right. The former royal residence dates back to 1631. King George III, his wife Charlotte, and family resided here in the early 1800s.
Turn right at Syon Vista, walk along the lake, and turn right to cross the bridge. Continue straight ahead to the Rhizotron and Xstrata Treetop Walkway. Enjoy a different view of the garden from 59 feet above!
Once done viewing the garden from above, walk over to the final garden destination, The Temperate House.
