Fathering Autism
As the title of the channel, Fathering Autism implies this is an autism family vlog. The channel was inspired through a family’s battle against the stigma of ASD (autism spectrum disorder) with a first-hand look into the reality of life for the Maass family. Dad Asa, Mom Priscilla, son Isaiah, and daughter Abigail share their struggles, joy, and comedy for whatever the day brings.
I became aware of Fathering Autism when the family won the 2018 Shorty Award for Parenting/Family. I viewed a few of their vlogs and quickly clicked on the bell and added the family to my playlist.
The family takes on NYC and the Shorty Awards!
Abigail is a young lady with autism. She may be non-verbal which does not mean she cannot communicate. Abby just does it in her own way. She can be sweet, or she can be mischievous, she tries her family’s patience at times, yet always tugs on those heartstrings. She is a special girl for sure!
I cannot even begin to explain how Fathering Autism has opened my eyes and my heart to this lovely family and others who face disability or challenges. The channel isn’t all about autism. It is about living life. Give this family a chance and you will enjoy adventures in around their Florida home and beyond. You will meet some very good friends such as Crazy Nanny and Summer, who is Abby’s very best friend!
