Every year, during the holiday season I enjoy revisiting Christmas and holiday shows that I enjoyed while young. I find these programs reflect so much of what life was like during the final five decades of the twentieth century.
1950’s Christmas – Home TVs were catching on in the 1950s offering comedy, drama, music, fantasy, and what the audience “asked for” on television.
1960s Christmas – From traditional themes to situation comedy, music, current events, game shows, television culture has become mainstream.
1970s Christmas – Music specials, comedies, game shows, feature films and a selection of commercials make up the 1970s play list.
1980s Christmas – Classic comedy, heartwarming specials, and seasonal music had us all tuned in for the 80s!
